The Story Behind the Birth of Youbeni
STORY

In 2015—known in Japan as the once-in-a-century “Strawberry Year” (ichi-go means both “15” and “strawberry”)—Youbeni was born in Kumamoto.
After nearly a decade of dedicated research, this exceptional strawberry was perfected.
Youbeni is known for its superb balance of sweetness and acidity, bursting with fresh juice and a rich, elegant aroma.

The Youbeni Brothers: Taro, Jiro, and Saburo
These three characters are connected by runners—just like real strawberry plants.
They symbolize the strong “red bond” shared by Youbeni farmers, united in their passion and commitment to quality.
This red bond also represents the passing of knowledge and care from parent to child, from one generation to the next.
It’s a legacy of love and craftsmanship, carried on through the generations—one berry at a time.
Taro, Jiro, and Saburo, the Youbeni brothers, are here to spread red happiness from Kumamoto to Japan and the world!

with someone they loved.
Taro, Jiro, and Saburo—
these Red Bears deliver “Red Happiness”
from the Strawberry Kingdom of Kumamoto
to people all across Japan.
Let’s pass on the Red Happiness.
